Frequently Asked Questions

*Do I need a lower flipper?

Have your child SMILe---if she shows a lot of her lower teeth then she could possibly use a lower flipper. If she only shows her upper teeth when she SMILES then just an upper will suffice.

*My child is not missing any teeth but she has small teeth with spaces, will a flipper help?

Of course!  A flipper will fill in the spaces and give a brighter SMILE.

*How long will it last?

It depends on the stage that the child's teeth are at---if she is loosing baby teeth and adult teeth are coming in---adjustments will need to be made and at times a new flipper will be needed.  A lot of change happens when a child is going through this stage.  But for children who still have all their baby teeth, the flipper will last the longest.

*Will the flipper still fit after my child looses a tooth?

Usually, the flipper will still fit BUT if the adult tooth is coming down right behind it, then shifting of other teeth may occur to make room which, will cause the flipper to no longer fit.

*Will the flipper stay in by itself or will adhesive be needed?

For some children, the flipper will stay in with no adhesive.  If the child is having trouble keeping the flipper on, then a small amount of polygrip or fixodent can be used to hold it in place.

*While wearing the flipper can my child eat or drink?

Absolutely not!  The flipper is NOT a functional device, it is only for SHOW.

The flipper is also a choking hazard please supervise while your child wears it.

*What is the flipper made of?

The flipper is made of high quality, light-cured, dental acrylic.

*Can the flipper be worn over braces?

No, the flipper would have to be so bulky to fit over the braces that it would not be very attractive or natural-looking.

*What if the flipper breaks or chips, can it be repaired?

YES! With the type of material we use to make the flipper, we can repair just about anything and get the flipper looking as good as new.
